Born: Hopewell, Virginia, September 6, 1970
Robert was born in Hopewell, Virginia and raised in Richlands, Virginia. Growing up in the coal fields of western Virginia, Robert learned the value and importance of hard work and being a team player. Robert worked his way through school at Virginia Tech and spent several summers working as a brakeman on coal trains for Norfolk Southern Railways.
Robert moved to Greensboro in 1992 after receiving his bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech. He attended Wake Forest School of Law and worked as a lobbyist for the North Carolina State Grange and as a clerk at Gabriel Berry Weston during his summers. He earned his law degree from Wake Forest in 1996 and began practicing with Gabriel Berry Weston & Wells that fall. Robert became a partner with the firm in 1997.
